What is this course about?

Hi, I’m Jille Bartolome, MCC, and I’m thrilled to welcome you into this course on the language of coaching, a topic that has shaped the depth, presence, and impact of my work for decades.

I created The Words We Choose because as an assessor who has assessed thousands of coaches at all three levels, I’ve seen how profoundly our language influences what a client can see, believe, feel, and choose. Our phrasing can hold space for someone to access their own wisdom, or it can unintentionally steer them toward the coach’s perspective. As professional coaches, the precision and intentionality of our language is not a small detail; it is the foundation that supports agency, attunement, and true partnership.

This course is designed for coaches who take their craft seriously, who care not just about helping clients move forward, but about doing so with clarity, respect, curiosity, and presence. Inside this curriculum, we explore how questions, reflections, and subtle linguistic habits influence awareness. You’ll learn how certain patterns limit possibility, while others expand insight, deepen thinking, and create clean space for transformation.

You will also be able to earn Continuing Coaching Education (CCE) credit when you attend the live sessions or when you complete the full course program, a professional recognition of the depth and rigor this work represents. But more importantly, you’ll leave with language that feels aligned with the heart of coaching: non-directive, client-centered, reflective, and rooted in genuine belief in the brilliance of the person in front of you.

This curriculum deepens the quality of space you hold. You’ll learn how to use language that allows the client’s truth to emerge naturally, without our influence disguised as curiosity.

Course Delivery & Format

This learning experience has two distinct parts, designed to work together:

Monthly LIVE Language Lab Sessions

A one-hour live session is held once per month.
Each Lab focuses on the actual words and phrases we use as coaches and how small linguistic choices influence presence, client agency, insight, and direction.

In every Lab, you’ll work with:

• real coaching language

• practical demonstrations

• audible examples of subtle influence

• breakdowns of phrasing patterns

• anatomy of clean, non-directive structure

You’ll also have space to reflect, ask questions, and grow alongside other coaches who are intentionally refining their craft.

The Words We Choose: Core Course + Resource Vault

A self-paced, deeper training experience that explores the full landscape of linguistic mastery in coaching.

The Core Course includes:

• 8 instructional self-paced training hours

• structured lessons tied directly to ICF Core Competencies

• The Complete Language Resource Vault:
  deep-dive modules, examples, pathwork, analysis, and exploration tools that help you master the nuance of clean coaching language

Who is your instructor?

I'm Jille Bartolome, MCC. Let me share with you a little bit about myself and why I'm qualified to teach this course. I'm a Master Certified Coach (MCC) and an expert in the application of the ICF Core Competencies. I am an assessor and have made Coach Education my primary focus in the coaching business for many, many years. In fact, I’ve been coaching for almost 30 years, and I've worked as a Leadership Coach with individuals and groups of clients from sales, business ownership, and high-tech backgrounds from various industries and cultures.

I’ve spent years studying how the language we use as coaches shapes presence, influences awareness, and supports (or unintentionally interferes with) a client’s inner wisdom. The deeper I’ve gone into this work, the more convinced I’ve become that our words are one of the most underestimated forces in coaching; powerful enough to expand possibility, or quietly narrow it without us even noticing.

I’ve made my own linguistic missteps, caught myself steering when I thought I was being helpful, heard my assumptions slip into questions, and had to unlearn habits that looked like curiosity but carried subtle direction. Those lessons changed how I coach.

This course is a way of passing that forward: giving you the tools, frameworks, and listening skills to use language that honors autonomy, widens awareness, and invites the kind of insight clients arrive at on their own,  not because we nudged them there.

I'm also a friendly, heartfelt, and helpful person who loves to share and learn with other coaches. I will make this course fun, informative, and relevant for you, and I will support you on your journey to impact and mastery as a coach.

How to Register for the Monthly Language Lab

You can join any Monthly Language Lab session for free. Just complete the short form below to register for the upcoming month: name, email, and ICF credential level. After registering, you’ll receive the session details, including date, time, Zoom link, and a reminder the day before we meet.

If you choose to request a CCE for the session you attend, you can do so afterward for a simple $30 fee. If not, the Language Lab remains completely free.

You’re welcome to register one month at a time, join as often as you wish, and participate live.
Note: ICF requires live attendance to be awarded the CCE.

There’s no obligation, no subscription, and no commitment, just an open invitation to sharpen your listening, refine your language, and practice cleaner, more attuned coaching conversations alongside other professionals.
