The Power is in Your Intention

guidepost personal growth professional coaching news

From The Heart

As we move deeper into the year, the landscape around us continues to evolve in unexpected chaotic ways. During these shifts, setting a positive intention for the remainder of the year is more than a practice—it's an absolute necessity. You see, I still believe that what we think about...we bring about, so our collective thoughts create our collective experience. That’s why it is imperative to create a positive intention that will serve as our guiding light, a beacon to steer us through the complexities of the world with optimism and purpose as we face the months ahead.

Positive intention is about more than just hoping for the best; it’s about actively shaping our mindset to see and create opportunities in every situation. As coaches, we wield the unique power to transform perspectives—not only for ourselves but also for those we guide. By maintaining a steadfast focus on positive outcomes, we cultivate an environment where resilience can flourish, and obstacles become stepping stones to greater achievements.

Let’s make this time a period of intentional positivity. This means consciously choosing to hope over feeling despair, action over inactivity, and joy over fear. Each decision we make, every word we speak, and all the energy we put forth can contribute to a ripple effect of positivity. Encourage yourself and your clients to set clear, positive intentions. Whether it's striving for personal growth, professional achievement, or simply finding peace amid chaos, let these intentions be the pillars that support our actions.

For instance, start each day with a clear statement of intent, such as, "Today, I choose to find joy in small victories," or "I intend to lead with empathy and strength." These declarations set the tone for the day, influencing our interactions and mindset.

Here are some additional practical ways to implement and maintain a positive intention:

Reflection and Meditation: Regularly spend time in reflection or meditation to reconnect with your core intentions. This practice helps to clear mental clutter and realign with your values and goals.

Visualization: Use visualization techniques to embody the positive outcomes you aim to achieve. Imagining success can boost confidence and clarify the steps needed to reach your goals.

Journaling: Keep a journal to document your thoughts, progress, and the moments where your intention has guided your decisions. This not only tracks growth but also reinforces your commitment to your intentions.

Accountability: Share your intentions with a trusted peer or mentor who can help keep you accountable. This can be especially powerful in a coaching context, where mutual support is key.

Adaptive Planning: As the year unfolds, be prepared to adapt your intentions based on new insights and changes in your environment. Flexibility allows you to stay relevant and responsive to life’s dynamics.

As we move forward, let's embrace the power of positive intention to steer through the complexities of the world. It's about more than survival; it’s about thriving. Through deliberate positivity, we can illuminate paths not just for ourselves but for those we guide, crafting a world that reflects our highest aspirations and collective hopes.

By integrating these practices into our daily routines, we transform the concept of positive intention into a living, breathing part of our everyday lives and coaching practices. This active approach ensures that we're not just setting intentions but are also taking concrete steps to manifest them in all areas of our work and personal development

Thank you for taking this journey with me. Your commitment to fostering positivity and purpose is what makes our community strong. Together, with our intentions set and our spirits united, we can face the upcoming challenges with courage and grace. Here's to the remainder of the year marked by meaningful achievements and sustained positivity, proving that no matter what the world throws our way, our intentions can help us navigate and triumph.

With all my heart,
Jille

Industry News

The ICF is making some changes to the ICF Credentialing Exam that we all need to be aware of.

Here is the note they sent out in case you missed it!!

Effective August 20, 2024, the ICF Credentialing Exam will reflect important changes to the exam format. These updates are based on candidate feedback and are designed to improve candidates’ exam experience while maintaining the rigor and integrity of the ICF Credentialing Exam. Exam format updates will include the following:

  • Fewer total items. The updated ICF Credentialing Exam will have 78 scenario-based items, a decrease from the current 81 items on the exam.
  • A longer scheduled break. Candidates will be offered an optional 10-minute break midway through the exam.
  • Translated items with English language aids. Candidates taking a translated form of the exam will view translated exam items first, with the option to view the item in English as a supplemental aid.

These changes will go into effect for all ICF Credentialing Exam administrations delivered at Pearson VUE testing centers and online through Pearson’s OnVUE testing service beginning August 20, 2024.

For a full list of the exam format updates, please visit the ICF Credentialing Updates page of the website.

I also know that the ICF is creating a test specifically for those of us applying for ACC to make the exam more accessible for beginners. Stay tuned for that exciting bit of news.

Reflections of Gratitude

Reflections of Gratitude: Gratitude for Working from Home

It may sound silly or even old news, but I feel an immense amount of gratitude for our ability, for most coaches, to work from home. This may be something that we take for granted and I just want to be sure to connect with this amazing capability that the modern world affords us. This flexibility has reshaped how we engage with our coaching roles and offered us unique opportunities to blend our personal lives with our professional aspirations seamlessly.

What I value about working from home:

  • Flexibility and Balance:

The flexibility to set our schedules not only helps in managing our time better but also supports a healthier work-life balance. This adaptability allows us to attend to personal commitments while still fulfilling our professional responsibilities. Each morning, I work out, go for a walk, have coffee with my husband, and enjoy my commute down the hall to my office. There is no stress in my morning and for this alone I am extremely grateful.

  • Enhanced Productivity:

Without the commute and the distractions of a traditional office environment, many of us find that we can focus more intensely and be more productive. This increased efficiency helps us serve our clients more effectively and gives us extra time for personal development and relaxation. I get more done in a day, than I would in a week in a traditional office setting.

  • Deeper Connections:

Working from home has also fostered deeper connections with our clients. In a home setting, our interactions often become more relaxed and personal, which can lead to more profound coaching relationships and better outcomes. This has been my experience for sure. Not to say that all my coaching relationships become personal but a lot of them do. I have such a huge amount of love and respect for my clients and mentees, and they have my heart.

  • Creativity and Personalization:

Our home environments are often more reflective of our personalities and can be tailored to our comfort, enhancing creativity. This personalization helps in cultivating a workspace that is not only functional but inspiring. I spend time and effort to make my office beautiful so that it is pleasing to my clients when we are on Zoom or Teams. That means it is also pleasing to me which is a lovely bonus.

  • Sustainability:

Working from home has reduced the need for daily commuting, contributing to less traffic and pollution, which aligns with our commitment to sustainability. This not only benefits the environment but also supports our well-being by reducing stress and increasing our time spent in healthier surroundings. We also have been able to reduce our dependence on vehicles and share a car. This has saved us a lot of money over the years as well as reducing our carbon footprint.

Working from home has not been without its challenges, but the benefits it has brought into my life and the lives of my family are undeniable. It has allowed us to redefine the boundaries of work and home, creating spaces that encourage both professional growth and personal well-being.

I am immensely grateful for the ability to work from home, and I cherish the appreciation it has brought for the simpler moments at home. Let’s continue to embrace this model with gratitude, recognizing the freedom and opportunities it provides us every day.

I am not suggesting that you should work from home if you are not currently doing so, I am just being extremely grateful to have created this in my life. No matter where you work, I hope you feel the same way about it.

With love,
Jille
