I named this PCC group ELEVATE for this reason

I hope this email finds you well! Today, I'm excited to share with you the essential updates to the ICF Core Competencies, a cornerstone of modern coaching practice. Even though these changes to the Core Competencies have been in effect since the end of 2019, most coaches who got their certifications before that, have not yet done a deep dive into them.

The ICF updated our Coaching Core Competencies to reflect the evolving landscape of coaching. Are you keeping up? These competencies are not just guidelines; they are the foundation of effective and impactful coaching.

IFC Coaching Core Competencies

The updated competencies include:

1. Demonstrating Ethical Practice

   Understanding and consistently applying coaching ethics and standards.

2. Embodies a Coaching Mindset

   Developing and maintaining a growth mindset for continuous learning and development. This competency is brand new with this update!!

3. Establishes and Maintains Agreements

   Defining and maintaining clear agreements about the coaching relationship, process, plans, and goals.

4. Cultivates Trust and Safety

   Creating a safe, supportive environment that allows clients to express themselves openly.

5. Maintains Presence

   Being fully conscious and creating a spontaneous relationship with the client, employing a style that is open, flexible, and confident.

6. Listens Actively

   Understanding the client's context through effective listening and eliciting client-generated solutions and strategies.

7. Evokes Awareness

   Facilitating client insight and learning by using tools and techniques such as powerful questioning, silence, metaphor, or analogy.

8. Facilitates Client Growth

   Partnering with the client to transform learning and insight into action, promoting client autonomy in the coaching process.

These competencies are crucial in today's coaching practice as they ensure a comprehensive and client-centered approach, adapting to diverse client needs and contexts. Whether you're an ACC coach aspiring to become a PCC, a PCC Coach who is committed to understanding and applying these competencies at the PCC level or an MCC coach or looking to enhance your existing skills, understanding, and integrating these competencies into your practice will elevate your coaching to new heights.
